Application Process
Step 1: Learn about UTC’s Pioneering Alternative Teacher Preparation Program: Interested applicants are encouraged to participate in a webinar, informational session or speak with UTC staff or participant.
Step 2: Complete an Online Application: Complete an online application by one of the deadlines: October 15, November 15, February 1, or March 15. Additional deadlines may be added as needed. The application includes two short essays, resume, transcripts and two recommendations.
Step 3: Phone Interview: Applicants that meet minimum qualifications are invited to participate in a thirty-minute phone interview.
Step 4: In-Person Interview: After the Phone Interview, selected applicants are invited to an in person interview. The interview typically lasts from 9:00AM-4PM and includes a mini lesson, a group discussion, a role play, an interview with UTC staff and a writing prompt.
Step 5: Selected Applicants: Individuals are notified of their selection in a timely manner. Individuals may defer acceptance into the program for up to one year in cases of a family emergency or a once-in-a-lifetime one-year experience. Individuals admitted into the program receive ongoing information from UTC staff, can talk to current residents and fellows, and can participate in a series of onboarding webinars to prepare for their mid-June start.
