Costs
There are no UTC costs for the duration of the program.
There are no Lesley costs for the duration of the M.Ed. program.
Regulatory and Industry Fees: UTC residents are responsible for industry related fees including but not limited to: Praxis I and Praxis II registration, testing and score reporting, and state mandated public school fingerprinting and background checks.
Benefits
Health Benefits (Year 1): UTC participants are eligible for health benefits from UTC during the residency year.
Student Loan Deferral (Year 1): As full-time graduate students, participants with preexisting student loans may defer payment during the first year of the UTC program. UTC participants may be eligible for loan forgiveness for working in Title I or high need schools.
Loan Assistance (Year 1): Urban Teacher Center offers access to a variety of assistance programs to help students finance their living expenses during the first year of the program. UTC residents may pursue private loans, apply for interest free loans and grants with a local scholarship bureau, or work with UTC to find the best financing solution available to meet their living expense needs in the first year of the program. All UTC participants will be eligible for some type of assistance. No candidates will be denied adequate financing support. UTC residents are not currently eligible for federal financial aid programs that include Federal Stafford Loans and Federal Perkins Loans.
Full Teacher Salary and Benefits (Years 2 – 4): UTC participants receive full teacher salaries and full benefits from their partner school district or charter management organization starting in year two of the program. In Baltimore and DC, the starting salary ranges from $46,700-$50,000 annually.
