Urban Teacher Center (UTC) graduates earn a dual Masters in Education in either general education and special education or secondary mathematics and special education from Lesley University. Graduates leave with four years of data illustrating teacher effectiveness and a professional community cohort of like-minded, equally talented teachers.
UTC graduates have a plethora of opportunities:
- Continue as an effective classroom teacher
- Serve as a host teacher for the UTC program to help train future cohorts
- Get involved in UTC’s advocacy work on behalf of education reform at the school, district, state and national level
- Get certified in additional grade and content areas
- Become involved in curriculum and professional development at the school or partner level
- Apply to New Leaders for New Schools or similar in-district preparation programs to become a principal
- Become a staff member of UTC
- Start a charter school or turnaround organization
- Become a leader with the teacher’s union
