Assistant Director of Curriculum & Professional Development (Humanities)

A nine year veteran of the classroom, Katryna has teaching experience in both public and private settings in and around Baltimore, MD. A certified reading specialist, special educator and English educator, she has enjoyed working with students in grades 6 through 12, all of whom she considers the inspiration for her current work. Most recently, Katryna served as an adjunct instructor for the Center for Inspired Teaching in Washington, D.C., the Baltimore City Teaching Residency, and Trinity Washington University. She came to her position at Urban Teacher Center via her role as a coach, mentor, and adjunct in Special Education.  Her passion for coaching, mentoring, and facilitating coursework for UTC residents stems from her belief that all children deserve excellent teachers as well as her own experiences as the beneficiary of the work of amazing educators. Katryna received her B.A. and M.S. degrees from Johns Hopkins University and recently earned her Ph.D. in Special Education/Learning Disabilities from the University of Maryland, College Park.
