Amanda Klein
Program Analyst for Maryland and D.C. Regions
Amanda’s passion for improving urban education emerged as a freshman in college. From that point on, she dedicated the rest of her studies and her career to this cause. Amanda has had a wide variety of experiences in all sectors touching on urban education – research, policy, and direct service. Internships in education research organizations and with the administration of a Baltimore City Public School led Amanda to pursue teaching through the Baltimore City Teaching Residency. As a middle school Social Studies teacher, Amanda used her years in the classroom to learn first-hand about the issues in urban education and work to change them. In 2010, she was a Summer Teacher Fellow at the Baltimore City Public Schools Central Office and has also pursued independent consulting for school systems and education non-profits. She is thrilled to merge all of her experiences in education to help the Urban Teacher Center grow and run successfully. Amanda earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Master of Public Policy from Johns Hopkins University.
